Introduction

Dr Kesavan is a highly qualified orthopedic surgeon working in Chennai, India. He is highly renowned in joint replacement (hip and knee) and complex fractures of the hip and pelvis. Dr Kesavan’s subspecialty interest however is in the development of the hip joint, dysplasia and paediatric hip disorders.

Education & Training

Dr Kesavan completed his MBBS from Kilpauk Medical College in 1994, MS – Orthopedics from the University of Mumbai in 1998 and went on to do his Senior Residencies in orthopedic surgery at Lokmanya Tilak Municipal Hospital, Mumbai and V N Desai Municipal General Hospital, Mumbai.

Dr Kesavan gained 2 years overseas experience in Trauma Surgery Berlin, Germany at Humboldt University, Charite Hospital. This was followed by another 2 years in Hip Replacement and Resurfacing at Knappschafts Krankenhaus Hospital, Puttlingen, Germany before moving to Australia to the John Flynn Hospital, Pindara on the Gold Coast to train on Joint Replacement. In 2007 he moved back to Tubingen, Germany to train on Trauma and Reconstructive Surgery at BG Unfallklinik.

Experience

Dr Kesavan has over 20 years experience and has worked at some of the best hospitals in India including Senior Consultant Orthopedic Surgeon at Gleneagles Global Hospital, Chennai, specializing in Hip and Pelvic Surgery. Senior Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon and Director, Pelvic and Acetabular Reconstructive Surgery at MIOT Hospitals, Chennai.

Dr Kesavan has published and presented numerous papers on Orthopedics and is the Recipient of the Mohandas – WellerGold Medal for Best Paper Presentation at the Indo- German Orthopaedic Foundation meeting, Bangalore – October 2002 .
