Introduction

Professor Cengiz is a renowned Obstetrician and Gynecologist. She is the first female Associate Professor and Professor in the field of Obstetrics and Gynecology in Turkey. Her areas of interest are gynecological diseases, and adolescent gynecology.

Education & Training

Professor Cengiz studied at Ankara University Faculty of Medicine where she continued her medical education in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology. Her clinical training in Obstetrics and Gynecology has also taken her to the Downstate Medical Center, New York (USA).

Teaching

Between 1972-9 Professor Cengiz worked as Assistant Professor, Associate Professor and Chief Physician, respectively, at Diyarbakır Medical Faculty in Turkey. In 1980 she worked as an Associate Professor and later as Professor in Ankara University’s Department of Obstetrics a position she held until 2009. Between 1999-02 she served as Head of the Department and between 2009-21 she worked as a lecturer in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Ufuk University (Turkey).

Research

Professor Cengiz has more than 100 publications to her name. She is the Editor of 3 books and the Author of several others. Besides mentoring students, assistants and lecturers in the field of Obstetrics and Gynaecology she continues her studies in all fields related to Gynecology and Obstetrics. Dr Cengiz has served as a referee on many international scientific journals and has also taken part on their editorial board.
