Experience

Dr Tan Sing Huang is a Senior Consultant Medical Oncologist with 16 years experience handling a broad range of cancers. Before joining OncoCare she was Senior Consultant in the Department of Hematology-Oncology at NCIS (National University Cancer Institute, Singapore) and Assistant Professor, Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore.

Whilst at NCIS, she cared for patients with Breast cancer, Gynecological cancers, Lung cancers and Gastrointestinal cancers although her primary interest is Women’s Cancers. Her clinical efforts resulted in the Sunny Side-Up and Sunny Side-Up WOW Awards for exemplary patient feedback.

Dr Tan was Vice President of the Singapore Society of Oncology from 2013-18. She is a long-standing current active Committee Member and since 2020 Deputy Chair of the National Healthcare Group Domain-Specific Ethics Review Board reviewing Medical Oncology clinical trial procedures for hospitals.

Research & Teaching

Dr Tan was the Program Director of the Senior Residency Education division at NCIS from 2012-16, Co-Chair for the NCIS Clinical Competency Committee and panel member for national selection of Medical Oncology trainees. She was an examiner for undergraduate final medical exams and in recognition of her contributions was awarded the NUH Teaching Excellence Award in 2014.

Dr Tan was lead researcher of several studies investigating new drugs for breast cancer as well as co-investigator in lung, and colorectal cancer trials. Under a Fellowship Award she was involved with the RUNX research group and from 2006-7 she took part in epigenetics research at Johns Hopkins Sidney Kimmel Comprehensive Cancer Centre in Baltimore and gained clinical experience at the Breast Cancer Division of Johns Hopkins Medical Institute.

Dr Tan is highly awarded; from Research-Investigator-Scientist Enabler Grant Scheme Award (2008-10). Junior Investigator Protected Time Award (2011). Winner of the Merit Award at the 10th International Conference of The Asian Clinical Oncology Society. She has written on chemotherapy treatment of metastatic breast cancer and contributed to publications such as Clinical Cancer Research and Annals of Oncology.
